Luwanda Trading Center. The last time I was here, there was just one shop. Now, there is a bustling market place and dozens of shops selling all kinds of things. A mini bus. The quickest mode of public transportation in these parts.
A thirty minute ride and 90 kwachas to get to Blantyre center. A parafin station
AIDS/HIV awareness is everywhere. Here, an ad selling female condoms. Most of the locals still use charcoal fires to do their cooking. Queuing to buy flour.
Uncle Charles at his Chibuku bar. Chibuku is a drink probably best described as fermented poridge packaged in milk cartons. It's cheap, about 50 kwachas (25 euro cents)
And yes, I did taste and, and no, I didn't like it. Though I would still prefer it over fermented mongolian horse milk. From inside the bar. The road to our house.
The gate to our house. The Fagard's House. Our house.
Charles and Maggy One of the two servants quarters behind the house. The morning ritual: Me, alone in a room with a table, a chair, sliced bread, butter and tea.

Sure beats being served chicken liver for breakfast.
A holy man. Our other house. Currently being rented.
