Our arrival to Lijiang was met with rain. Almost like home. Purchasing some last minute rain gear at a local store. Umbrella street

We had to climb a 700 step stairway to reach this view point

From here, we had a beautiful view of Lijang Black Dragon Pool Park
The next day, we went for a nother bicycle ride to discover the villages around Lijang. While Lijang is a beautiful place, it does have a Disney feel to it. The surrounding villages felt more authentic in that regard. When the Chinees cook chicken, they cook everything but the feathers.

But if you think seeing chicken or fish heads swimming about in a pot is bad, it gets worse. When eating out, the Chinees throw everything they don't eat right next to them onto the floor. And believe me, they can leave quite a mess behind. Once they're done and have left, a waiter simply comes by and sweeps everything away.

Bon appetit! A Naxi (Nakhi) village outside of Lijang. This is one of the few cultures in the world where women are openly in charge and where the men have to take care of the children.
We bumped into a group of Naxi women who clearly had nothing better to do but hang out on the street as their men did all the work. Wanting to have a bit of fun, they descided to convert Edith into one of them by dressing her up in their tradional clothing.
I don't think Edith was quite ready yet for a change in life style.
Lijiang by night. The view from our Hostel. The old town is a UNESCO herritage site.
